Welcome to Miriam Thayer (Meg) Oliver's Web Site. When you think of a family pet or your grandparents, certain mental pictures arise. You also may daydream about quitting your job and moving to the country. You may wish you could find true love. And most of us feel as if we met someone we already knew. These are a few of the things you might enjoy if you were to read any of my books. I hope those books become tangible for each of you to read someday. I sorta plan on it.

"WOVEN GOLDEN"
is about my Golden retriever. His name was Rocky, and as you read my descriptive reflections of his remarkable life, your heart will melt. I've been told I'm quite a storyteller. And Rocky was a dog that collected hearts. Yours will be added to his shrine. In life he never met a person he could not endear. My words will capture you, because he will capture you. In the process, you will be goaded to remember your childhood pet, or the furry companion that was your support group during a divorce, or the face that greets you every time you return home. I only lead the memory train--with Rocky as the guide dog.

"GRAND IMPRESSIONS", is a work of non-fiction about my grandparents and a few of my memories of their home. To grandmother's house we go...
Most of us are fortunate enough to know our grandparents. Grand Impressions is an intimate peek through the window of my maternal grandparents' home. As we transcend time together you will be led by vivid detailed accounts to vicariously know my grandparents and to be drawn again to your own. And there are your own grandchildren, if you are hallowed yourself. Grandparents. The word is sacred to most of us. Read GRAND IMPRESSIONS and renew your affinity for all the word and its real-life counterparts evoke. If you have not experienced any of this familial fondness, you are invited to do so vicariously. My grandparents were grand. They'd be happy to include you.

"IN ANOTHER LIFE"
This is my first completed novel. This is a coming-of-age story about a woman who drops out of the corporate world and moves to rural Georgia to raise horses and live off the land.  She falls in love with someone unexpected.  Plot twists, humor, and tragedy all keep the reader interested.  This novel is 300 pages...60K words.  I think it is interesting...but then again, I wrote it.  I drew from my experiences growing up in the south, working as a farrier, and making major life changes.

"CARRIAGE THROUGH TIME"

This is a work-in-progress about people who are connected throughout time by a horse-drawn carriage.  Upon completion, it should be around 300 pages.  Most of us have met people who we seemed to already know.  This novel explores that possibility.
